How do you want me?
Ian and Lisa move to a small village, where Lisa grew up. Soon Ian discovers that Lisa’s father dislikes him and Lisa’s brother is a ruthless prick. In general people in the village don’t like Ian that much. Why Ian suffers from the hostile environment Lisa is torn between standing up for Ian and her family and friends.
How Do You Want Me (Wikipedia, IMDb) is a dramedy series which I discovered here. The series does a good job portraying the uprising desperation of Ian’s and Lisa’s situation. It’s a sensitive drama which finds its comedy in absurd and yet strangely real situations. Also it’s quite unique that the story is place way-out on the country side where nothing is happening. Really nothing. That makes the situation even worse, because there’s no escape and no distraction from the situation.
However for me the series has one big weakness: Ian is a just such a helpless, stubborn coward that it is hard for me to sympathize with him. I myself would probably start picking on him, because he’s such an easy target.
When you want watch a drama with a delicate kind of humor, maybe give it a try. Unfortunately there’s no trailer.

Oh, shame you did not enjoy it quite as much as I did.
I thought the inevitablity was the best bit and it was superbly protrayed. Now, this may sound patronisiing but maybe you come from a different background or are simply not old enough to appreciate the wonderful and spot-on characterization. Or are you?
